The Observation Post at Ness Battery was the command centre for the guns overlooking Hoy Sound. It housed the battery commander, rangefinders, and plotting instruments. From here, enemy ships approaching Scapa Flow could be tracked, bearings calculated, and firing orders relayed to the gun crews below.
