Dungeness Listening Room

Built in the 1920s and 30s, the Dungeness mirrors were part of a coastal chain of early warning stations. Though soon replaced by radar, they remain striking  monuments to an inventive but short-lived chapter in Britain’s air defence.
The 30' mirror listening room is where the operator sat, sometimes using a stethoscope rather than a microphone.
